To obtain a copy of court records from the Charleston County Government Clerk Of Courts, you must first obtain a valid ID from the person being searched. This information is not available in online databases or through other sources. The official site of the county’s government offers this service, but you can also visit the offices of the elected officials in the county to view official court records. Often, you will be able to obtain criminal, traffic, and probate records, as well as family and civil records.

The office of the Charleston County Clerk of Court is located at 202 East Bay Street, and is responsible for the administration of the county’s trial court system. The magistrate is the highest court official in the county and has fiduciary responsibility. The clerk of the courts is the chief record-keeper for the Charleston County Judicial Complex. The office is led by Julie J. Armstrong, who was first elected in 1992 and has been in the position ever since.

The department of health and environmental control in Columbia, South Carolina, issues certified copies of divorce, birth, and death records.
