Warrant Records

You may be able to find all kinds of public information about warrants in Washington, and the information you are looking for can be readily available online. When a person is arrested for a warrant, the arrest papers will indicate whether the warrant was granted by a judge, or were self-made. If they are self-made, then they must be signed in front of a notary public, who is a legal witness to the signing of the warrant. These warrants are all documented in the same place as other warrants. They are also filed with the courthouse where the arrest took place.

Warrant records include a person’s name, current address, arrest date, location, charges, and dates of any hearings. Each warrant issued will be noted individually, and will have a time limit as to when the warrant will expire. The person listed on the warrant will have the opportunity to challenge the validity of their arrest, and to have the evidence they require to get a judgment against them dismissed. In many cases, people who are accused of crimes do not show up for their court date, and these warrants are written. A person can challenge the legality of their warrant by filing a motion with the court.

A warrant will only be allowed to be active if it was obtained by court order. In order to find out if there is an active warrant, a county clerk can search the records. In Washington, records are maintained by the state, but they are also maintained at the federal level, which will give you a better chance of knowing if there are warrants out for your arrest.

There are many reasons why you might need to search for someone’s warrant. Perhaps you want to know if someone has been arrested for some type of offense, and they are refusing to disclose their arrest warrant. You may want to protect yourself from another person in a similar situation, who may be about to attack you. Maybe you are suspicious that your partner is cheating on you, and you want to be sure that they are not carrying around a concealed weapon without you knowing it. These are just some of the situations that warrant searches can be helpful in.

You can generally get warrant records in the same way that you can get other public records. Most counties have their own courthouse, which keeps the official documents. If you know the person’s name and address (it should be a matter of providing that information to the county clerk), then you can go to the courthouse and look for the records for that person. The only exception to this is if the person has died, and the papers have not yet been signed. If this is the case, then you will have to use the probate court’s website to see if you can find the warrant for that person, before you obtain the information yourself.

In some states, there are services available online that will tell you whether a person has a warrant out for their arrest. The results will tell you what the warrant is for, as well as the location of it. Typically, these websites are easy to use, and give you limited information. However, they can be a good quick reference if you need to quickly look up information about a specific person.
