Warrant Records – How Do You Search For Them?
Warrant Records in North Dakota are one of the most public records that are available to the general public. Warrant Records are the paper trail that is left behind when a person is arrested or commits a crime. The records allow a judge to find out if a person can be proven guilty of a crime. All fifty states in the United States have laws that allow for warrants to be filed against a person. However, they are not made public information like other records.
If you are being questioned by an officer and arrested for suspicion of a crime, it is important to make sure that you have a valid warrant. If you are arrested without having a warrant, you may be unable to post bail, and your bond will be canceled. Your car will be impounded, and you will not be allowed to leave the state. There are also situations where you may be taken into custody and asked to identify yourself at some point during the search.
In order to determine whether a person has a valid warrant, the requesting officer will fill out an Affidavit of Intended Use form. You must then respond to the court within seven days indicating that you do not have a warrant. If you are present at the time of the arrest, an officer may ask to see the Affidavit of Intended Use, and then they may decide whether or not to file it.
By checking with your local courthouse, you can usually find out if a person you are investigating has a warrant. In some cases, criminal records are accessible online. If the person you are investigating has a criminal record, it could prevent you from being able to continue your search.
If you do not know the name of the person whose warrant you are investigating, you may be forced to hire a private investigator. Doing this costs money, so it may not always be an option. Another alternative is to check with your local police department. They should be able to tell you who the person whose warrant you are looking for has a warrant out for their arrest. This alternative should work in most cases.
Warrant records are a very serious matter. Anytime you come across an unexpected situation where you believe there is a warrant out for your arrest, you should immediately try to find out who it is so you can make arrangements to have it taken care of. If you are innocent, there is no reason to worry. If you have done something wrong, however, you need to take care of this as soon as possible.
