The stuff of nightmares. The reason why everyone warns you against dating online. There might be many people that are tremendously happy with their online dating experiences but that’s not what this article is about. We take a lighter look at the not so pretty side of online dating. It seems like… Yes it is that bad, and yes, they are out to get you…

Take a look at these less-than-perfect stories of online dating gone seriously wrong:

Scenario 1:

The story seems so classic. Online dating has you meeting someone and you turn out to know them, or another person that will forever have you hiding your face when you have to see them in real life again. This guy had a friend whom he had lost contact with over the years but he had always remained close with her family.

Years later he signed up for online dating and met a not-so-memorable girl that was into things he would rather not try, i.e. slave & master scene. After he did some digging via Facebook, he discovered that the man & woman involved in this story had been the long lost friend’s uncle & aunt and that he would never be able to look them in the eye with a straight face after seeing them dressed up, or rather down, the way they portrayed themselves.

It’s a small world and what you share with the dating world, will most definitely be slapped across media in the real world.

Scenario 2:

Being used as a “shiny new toy for being a good boy” just isn’t acceptable and this story just goes to show that you really have to know all the ins and outs when it comes too you prospective date.

After her divorce a woman decided to try out the whole online dating thing and eventually had 2 guys whom she really liked, so she proceeded to go on dates with them. The first one wasn’t so good and the second… Well, the guy asked her on a date, which turned out to be an AA meeting, and then basically used her as a prop to look good.

The fact that he wanted to meet her in the parking lot of a church probably should have set off alarms. Meeting up with people you really don’t know a thing about is about as creepy and risky as doing a haunted house tour…

Scenario 3:

This one is seriously serial. Ever had someone contacting you because you “look just like someone” they use to know? You’ll never fall for those stories again. This story takes a look at a girl that was contacted that way and she and the guy actually started liking each other, but they lived quite a stretch apart from each other.

When they finally meet up she gets pregnant and he goes back to his life.

When she was about 6 months pregnant she found out that he was in fact a serial killer that has a life sentence in prison he has to carry out. Nice karma.
