Searching For Oconto County Warrant Records

Warrant records are a summary of every person’s arrest record. A warrant is an order that states that a person is forbidden from attending, associating with, or doing business with a specified person or organization. Warrants are issued by judges and not police officers. Oconto County Clerk of Court records all warrants.

Oconto County carries one of the lowest crime rates in Wisconsin. However, in some parts of Wisconsin, like Oconto County, there is a high crime rate. Some people might consider this high crime rate in Oconto County as a sign that it is a very unsafe place to live or to do business. This could not be further from the truth. There are many great reasons to live or do business in Oconto County.

The most obvious reason to consider living or doing business in Oconto County would be to run a business. Since there is no real police force in the area, businesses need to hire private investigators to run background searches on prospective employees or managers, and they need to hire private detectives to run criminal history searches on people who approach their stores or shops. Employers can get peace of mind when they know they will not have to hire a detective to run background checks on their applicants, but they also don’t have to worry about hiring someone with a criminal history. A simple application at the county clerk’s office will tell them whether or not a person has a criminal history. If the applicant has one, Oconto County will tell the potential employer if the person should be denied employment or if a job interview should be given to them. They will give the applicant a copy of the criminal history report along with their application and a letter explaining the reasons for the report.

There are times when a person does not have a criminal background and Oconto County does not have access to the criminal records of that person. In this case, the county will perform a free criminal check. To do this, they will perform a search through the courts and Federal Bureau of Investigation databases. If the person does not have any criminal background, they will still be required to take a written test saying why the records were not available in their county. This test is not considered a prerequisite to employment, but employers still look at this test before granting a position.

If a person has a clean record for 5 years, they will not be required to take a drug test or to submit to a drug test in Oconto County. However, if a person has been convicted of driving while intoxicated, convicted of manufacturing methamphetamine, possession of marijuana, selling methamphetamine, heroin, cocaine, florida date rape, grand theft auto, grand theft boat, fraudulency, domestic violence in multiple counts, sex crimes including sexual abuse in the presence of a child, assault and battery, and several other crimes, then they may be required by Oconto County to submit to a background check. The person can refuse to submit to the test, but they must inform the employer within a month of the refusal. If a person completes the test and the results are positive, then they must inform the employer within a month of the test. This is also true if the results of drug or alcohol tests are negative.

Warrant records are considered part of the public domain. However, an individual can have access to the criminal history of anyone, which includes warrant records. However, an individual cannot use those records to get a job, own property, or obtain credit. Oconto County and its law enforcement agencies do not release warrant records to the general public.
