Warrant Records – What Are They?

Warrant Records in Carroll County, Tennessee fall under the purview of the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Records found here are primarily regarding traffic violations, but may also pertain to vagrancy, assaults, narcotic charges, and many other criminal acts. This document is used by law enforcement agencies and the public as a means to identify those who have violated terms of probation or parole.

Anyone can access records through the Internet. In order to perform a search, a person will need to provide their full legal name, any aliases, middle names, maiden names, or social security numbers. Within minutes, records will show if a person has ever been arrested, convicted of a crime, misdemeanors, felonies, or driving offenses. If there are any warrants out for a person’s arrest, these will also be displayed.

Any DUI convictions will show as an “arsony” on their records. The offense will be listed as a felony, and the punishment will be as such. Drug related offenses will also be shown. Almost every driving record will include a hit and run clause. This clause states that the driver of the car will be liable for another person’s damages if the other person is injured or killed in a car accident while the suspect is driving.

Warrant Records in the state of Tennessee are considered public record. Anyone can view these records at any time. These are available from the state police, courts, law enforcement agencies, sheriffs’ offices, public libraries, colleges and universities, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. A person can access driving records online and get the results in no more than five minutes.

People may access warrants online to check to see if they themselves are subjects of a warrant. By entering the person’s full legal name, including any aliases, a person can determine if they are named on a warrant. If a warrant is listed, the person can learn if they have been accused of a crime that is not spelled on their birth certificate.

If a person is stopped on suspicion of DUI, they may be asked to show their warrant status. A judge may issue an arrest warrant for the driver. That person must now go before a judge and be asked to show proof of insurance prior to being released. If a person has a clean driving record, they may not have to worry about showing proof of insurance.
