Delaware Warrant Records

You might have already heard of a process called “warrant records check” where you can search the criminal past of any person. If you are reading this article, I am assuming that you are looking for the same information and want to find out if there are any warrants out for your arrest. What are these anyway? They are records that state if a person has been charged with a crime and their bail was set but they were unable to appear in court. This is usually because of some sort of emergency or health reasons.

This is one of the reasons why police departments will now perform a criminal record check on a person before issuing a summons to them. This is also a good reason to have their criminal history expunged. It means that the records will not show up in a person’s file unless there is a valid reason to do otherwise. It is easy to get a copy of a warrant because they will only need to be filed in the correct county courthouse. This can be done by contacting the clerk’s office for the county the person lives in.

You might be wondering how does a warrant records check work exactly? The first step is to contact the court house to see if they require one of these records. Then, a person can go to the courthouse and fill out an application stating that they have a reason to require the record. Usually the person must be a resident of that county, over 18 years old, and have some sort of criminal record.

Once the application is completed, the person will then have a short time to appear in court. In most cases, the judge will issue an arrest warrant. If the person shows up and can prove that they are who they say they are, they will not be arrested. The judge can either issue a warrant to the person, or release the person. If the person fails to show up within a couple of days, the warrant will be renewed. This is how it works around here in Delaware County.

Warrant records, in the end, reveal any and all criminal acts that the person has been accused of. Some of the more serious ones include rape, murder, theft, drug trafficking, embezzlement, burglary, and much more. The person’s entire criminal history will be listed here. These records can also be used for employment purposes, by any government agency that needs them, and in other public records searches as well.

Warrant records can become very interesting in certain situations, such as identity theft. You may have heard of someone having their identity stolen. Chances are if they had a warrant out for their arrest, they were more than likely on the run. Here is when learning more about a person’s criminal history becomes extremely important.
