Criminal History Report – What Is a Warrant Search and How to Run One

What are warrant records? These are documents that show a person was arrested for a crime. A warrant may be issued by a judge or magisterial court. It does not have to show that the person has been convicted of the crime. It may only state that the person is in violation of some law and the warrant is carried out for the enforcement of that law.

Warrant records do not show any other details about the arrest. This includes the name of the person who was arrested, his date of birth, gender, occupation, and any other relevant details. It may also contain a copy of the police report filed against the person. The warrant is carried out after an arraignment hearing where the arresting officer gives the person notice of the probable cause behind his arrest.

If you are a victim of any crime, a warrant can be used against you. To be able to get one, there must be sufficient evidence to show that the person committed the crime. This evidence can be found on the person’s person during the arrest. Warrant records can reveal this.

There is one exception to this rule, if the person is being arrested on suspicion of a felony. In that case, a felony charge would be enough to get a warrant. Such felony charges may be accompanied by a financial incentive. If your employer offers a reward for somebody being prosecuted on a felony, they could find you an easy mark if you apply for a warrant. In most states, a criminal record check will reveal any felony charges against a person.

So how can you find out about a person’s arrest record? You can visit the courthouse where the person was arrested or you can do a criminal background check online. These records are available for free but there is always a minimal fee charged for retrieval. You can also check the county website where the warrant was issued.

The fastest way to find out about a person’s arrest is to do a national search of the warrant database. The databases have links to hundreds of court houses nationwide. You can easily enter the person’s name to do a nationwide search. This will bring up all the information on the person that you need. It will also let you know what offenses are covered by the warrant.
